Royalia
Social network for the mentally royal
Tech: Meteor · React 18 · MongoDB · Bunny.net
A social network built on profile depth
Royalia explores a world where identity and intent matter more than viral feeds.
The Problem
Mainstream social networks optimize for reach, not depth. Profiles are shallow, and content is designed for clicks. Community discovery is noisy, and meaningful participation gets buried. Users want spaces that prioritize thoughtful interaction over endless scrolling.
The Solution
Royalia lets members build rich profiles and participate in themed spaces so they can connect around ideas, not just virality.
Target Audience
High-engagement community members who want slower, more thoughtful social spaces
Market Opportunity
Interest in smaller, purpose-built communities is rising as users push back against noisy feeds. New platforms are exploring identity, verification, and intentional participation. A concept that emphasizes depth offers a fresh alternative.
Key Features
Themed Profile Pages
Rich layouts with cover photos and avatars. Gives users room to express identity beyond a bio.

Topic-focused areas with distinct visual themes. Encourages slower, higher-quality participation.
Media-First Posts
Upload validation and fast media delivery via Bunny.net. Keeps the experience polished and reliable.
Roadmap for Reputation Signals
Planned reputation and trust signals to elevate meaningful contributions. Positions the platform for healthier discourse.

Engineering Reflection
If starting over, I’d formalize the content moderation pipeline earlier to protect community quality. I’d also decouple media uploads from profile updates to avoid blocking the UI on large files.
